Eating and Drinking in Saltburn
Two hundred years ago, when Saltburn had only sixteen cottages,
there were four pubs: the Nimrod, the Dolphin, the Seagull and the
Ship Inn.
Today, the Ship is the only one of these left, although
there are several newer ones to compensate: the Victoria (known locally
as the Vic), the Queens, the Alexander Vaults, the Marine Hotel, the Britannia,
the Spa (formerly Philmore's night club) and Bentley's (formerly Rosie
O'Gradey's). Also, perched high above Riftswood, like a fairy castle, is
Rushpool Hall, which is mainly used as a venue for weddings, conferences
and other functions.
